Reiki

Reiki therapy is also known as hands on healing.

In a standard treatment, Reiki in the form of universal energy called”Qi” (pronounced Chee), flows from the practitioners hands into the client allowing for self-healing and bringing about a state of equilibrium to the body. The client remains fully clothed and is usually laying on a massage table. The practitioner places their hands on or near the clients body in a series of hand positions around the head, shoulders, stomach and feet which corresponds with the chakras or energy centers of the body.

Feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by most people. Feelings of  tension, anxiety, fear or negativity are replaced with a sense of well being and overall improvement in their physical and psychological state. Some clients drift off to sleep or report floating outside their bodies.

Reiki can have a positive affect on all forms of illness and negative conditions. This includes minor things like head or stomach aches, menstrual cramps, high blood pressure, tension and anxiety, as well as serious illness like heart disease or cancer. The side effects of regular medical treatments may be reduced or eliminated and can include the negative effects of chemotherapy, postoperative pain and depression as well as improving the healing rate and decreasing the time needed to stay in the hospital.

There are times when a person may have what is called a healing crisis. A person may get a headache, stomachache or feel weak due to the body’s attempt to eliminate any built up toxins. If this happens, drinking more water, eating lighter meals and getting more rest is beneficial. The body is cleansing as part of the healing process and these symptoms are thought to be a good sign.
